Professional Parenting is a non-profit program and proud affiliate of:
In 1996, Professional Parenting began a program specializing in the treatment of adolescents that have been adjudicated for sexual offenses. The objectives of the program are to provide a broad range of services to allow these youth to remain in their homes while promoting safety in the community.
Referrals to the program are made through the Buncombe County Department of Juvenile Justice for youth who have been ordered by the Court to participate in an evaluation and/or treatment for these issues.
This community-based program is currently funded through the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council and the United Way.
Program Components
- Psychosexual Evaluation (Sex Offender-Specific Evaluation)
- In-home family therapy
- Weekly sex offender-specific group therapy
- Individual therapy
- Individualized safety plans in the home, school and community
- On-going consultation with juvenile court counselors to monitor client’s treatment progress and status in the home/community
- Family reunification when appropriate
- Step-down services for clients who are transitioning back into the community from residential placements
- Training and consultative services related to issues of sexual abuse
